Simple step for helping the environment

Those "Do not eat" packets that are found in the packages of a variety of products to help keep humidity from the product are dangerous because of the silica gel beads that absorb moisture. They are also dangerous to the health of the environment - so Do not Eat - or throw away. They remain useful to help control humidity wherever you want to use them. If they had been in a food package you can gently wash the outer package, let dry, and then store wherever you want humidity control, in computer or camera bags or in a drawer or closet for example. Simply removing them from the other garbage or recycling and collecting them in a box would be better than putting them in with the trash. The silica gel isn't good for us to eat or for other types of life. Read more: "Here's Why You Shouldn't Actually Throw Away Those Annoying Silica Sachets," sciencealert.com.
